On April 4-10, 2025, Woodford and surrounding counties were devastated by unprecedented rains. Record amounts were recorded causing our creeks, streams and the Kentucky River to overflow their banks at levels the second highest in recorded history. While Kentucky has seen an enormous number of weather-related incidents in the last few years, Woodford County had been spared, however this one affected our home county and fellow neighbors.
Over 150 Woodford County homes and families have been severely affected by these floods, some of whom are now homeless. Though state, county, and Red Cross assistance has been provided, the federal government has not yet granted the Major Disaster Declaration necessary to receive assistance for individuals and infrastructure.
You can help by donating to the April Flood Relief Fund. Financial donations as well as gift cards such as Kroger and Walmart are requested. Please designate all donations as “Flood Relief Fund”. The goal is to help at least two local families, but hopefully more. Thank you for helping your Midway neighbors in this recovery journey!
